Why Your Manifesting Journal Isn't Working

manifesting Sep 12, 2025

You sit down with your journal. You write the affirmations. You script the dream life. You do it every day… and yet nothing shifts. Sound familiar?

It’s not because you’re doing it wrong. It’s because journaling by itself isn’t enough. The missing link isn’t more pages, prettier pens, or stricter routines—it’s what happens behind the words you write.

I’m Acacia, CEO Legal Coach and manifesting mentor, and in today’s Aligned Business Series I’m breaking down why journaling stalls for so many entrepreneurs—and how to use it as a real tool for manifestation, instead of another task on your to-do list.

The True Essence of Manifesting (Keep It Simple)

Manifesting isn’t a 27-step routine. It’s four essentials:

  1. Decide — Name what you want with clarity.

  2. Feel — Step into the now energy of already having it.

  3. Remove Blocks — Clear the thoughts, feelings, and actions working against it.

  4. Receive — Stay open, watch for guidance, and say yes.

These are the pillars in my free guide—and when you use journaling to support each one, momentum builds fast.

The Common Pitfall: Journaling the “Right” Thing vs. the Real Thing

Most journaling misses the mark because it’s written for the mind, not for alignment.

Decide with Clarity (Not “Someday”)

Trade vague wish lists for decisions you’re ready to receive now. “Someday” energy delays results.

Write From the Experience (Not About It)

Don’t narrate your goals like a reporter—embody them. What do you notice in your environment? What does your calendar look like? How do you feel in your body? Write from inside the scene.

The Critical Step Most People Skip: Removing Blocks

You can’t out-journal a block. If your inner system is signaling “not safe” or “not possible,” words alone won’t move the needle. Here’s how to spot what’s really in the way:

1) Thought Blocks

Conscious or subconscious beliefs like “big money means burnout” or “I’ll get judged if I’m visible.”
Use journaling to surface them—ask: What would have to be true for me to resist this? What am I afraid will happen if it works?

2) Feeling (Somatic) Blocks

Tight chest, sinking stomach, lump in the throat—your body flags resistance.
Journaling identifies patterns, but you’ll likely need somatic tools (breathwork, tapping, shaking, nervous-system resets) to release the charge.

3) Action Blocks

Procrastination, busywork, or forcing the wrong tasks.
Journaling can reveal the “why,” but shifting behavior usually requires micro-commitments, accountability, or redesigning your systems.

Bottom line: Journaling is phenomenal for awareness. Removal often requires additional tools.

How to Journal So It Actually Manifests

Write in the Present Tense

Collapse the timeline. “Clients are signing this week.” “I’m feeling grounded and excited after two paid consults today.”

Align Belief With Words

If a line feels hollow, don’t bulldoze it with repetition. Ask: What part of me already believes this? What evidence can I accept today? Bridge beliefs are powerful.

Challenge Limiting Thoughts

When a fear appears, ask: Is this ultimately true? Always? For everyone? Then write the truer, more expansive statement you can stand behind.

Pair Affirmations and Journaling

Use affirmations to reinforce chosen beliefs; use journaling to explore nuance, resistance, and next steps. Switch as needed.

Close With an Ask + Openness

End entries with:

  • Inspired Ask: “Show me the next aligned step for ___.”

  • Openness Signal: “I’m willing to receive this in better-than-planned ways.”

What Journaling Can Do (And What It Can’t)

Journaling can:

  • Clarify decisions and desired outcomes

  • Surface hidden beliefs and patterns

  • Anchor the felt experience of having it

  • Reveal inspired next steps

Journaling can’t (by itself):

  • Release deep somatic charge

  • Replace aligned action

  • Override systems that sabotage you (pricing, scope, schedules, boundaries)

That’s why my Manifest Brilliantly framework pairs mindset with somatic work and business systems—so your inner alignment and outer structures stop competing.

A Simple Framework You Can Try Today

  1. Decide (3 lines)
Write the specific result in present tense.

  2. Feel (5 lines)
    Describe sensations, emotions, environment—already true.

  3. Reveal (5 lines)
Ask: What doubt/fear is here? Where do I feel it? What does it need?

  4. Release (2–3 lines)
Choose a tool (breath, tapping, quick walk, shake). Do it for 90 seconds.

  5. Receive (3 lines)
Ask for the next aligned step. Write one micro-action you’ll take in the next 24 hours.

Repeat tomorrow. Keep it light, consistent, and honest.

Remove the Final Barrier: Embrace the Path

Journaling isn’t the whole practice—it’s the translator between your inner world and your actions. When you write from the result, honor what’s real in your body, and move one aligned step each day, things shift—fast.

FAQ: Manifesting and Journaling

Why aren't my manifestations happening despite daily journaling?
The key reason may be that while you're following the steps of manifesting—deciding, feeling, removing blocks, and receiving—you're not identifying and removing the underlying blocks. Journaling is just one tool; if the route between you and your manifestation isn't clear due to these blocks, your desires won't materialize.

Should I journal daily or only when inspired?
Journaling is a tool meant to be used as needed. If you feel inspired to write, go ahead! However, be mindful of journaling out of obligation rather than inspiration. Use it to explore any feelings or blocks that may arise.

Do I write in present tense or future tense?
Always write in present tense. This helps to embody the feelings and energy of what you desire in the now, rather than keeping your goals in the distant future.

What if I don't believe what I'm writing?
Some part of you believes it, and the rest may be blocking that belief. Identify where the doubts come from and work on healing that disconnect through self-exploration in your writing.

How do I handle negative thoughts that come up during journaling?
Write them down, then question their truth. Are they ultimately true? Often, negative thoughts stem from past beliefs or experiences, so uncover where they originated to help release them.

What is better: affirmations or journaling?
It depends on what you're called to do at the moment. Affirmations can reinforce beliefs, while journaling allows for exploration and understanding of your thoughts and feelings. Use whichever method resonates with you most.
